The USS Intrepid was a WW2 Aircraft Carrier that is now used as a Floating Museum located at Pier 86 in Hudson Park, Manhattan. She is famous for being the recovery ship for the Mercury and Gemini space capsules.

One of the Intrepids’ more famous ‘guests’ is the G-BOAD, a British Airways Concorde also known as Alpha Delta. G-BOAD is famous for holding the record for the fastest transatlantic crossing by a passenger aircraft in 1996, completing a flight from New York to London in 2 hours, 52 minutes, and 59 seconds.

The Concorde isn’t the only famous guest onboard the Intrepid. The space shuttle Enterprise (OV-101) is also on display here. The Enterprise is the prototype orbiter that paved the way for the space shuttle program. Although it was only used for atmospheric tests, it never had its engines fitted and never made it into space.

The Dominican Day Parade in Manhattan was scheduled to start at 11 am.

It followed 6th Avenue, marching north from 36th Street to 55th Street.

The parade is an annual celebration of Dominican culture and heritage, featuring music, dancing, colourful costumes, and floats.

We saw none of that. After a late start, followed by 30 minutes of various NYPD groups and long waits in between, we got fed up and left.

Behind the horses, you have the cleanup crew.
